Wanderers FC playing members
Personal Health Insurance Policy
The executive committee of Wanderers FC wish to advise all playing members that the Club pays the cost of the IRFU Compulsory Personal Accident Insurance Scheme as per the attached (link below). This is basically cover for total long term disablement. It is not a medical expenses cover.
Wanderers FC also provide a Physiotherapy Service that provides initial diagnosis and treatment, as well as long term recommendations. This will look after the week to week activities of player recovery and is only designed for short term treatment.
It is the responsibility of each playing member to have their own Personal Health / Medical Insurance to cover the cost of any injuries sustained whilst playing or training. Players should be aware that the Club does not pay for any short fall in medical cover e.g. scans, hospital bills, outpatient visits or other medical expenses that might not be covered by a Personal Health / Medical insurance policy.
We are sure that most, if not all playing members, have their own family/individual personal health insurance, but for those who do not, you are advised to organise this with immediate effect.
Also attached is detail of the IRFU “Additional Personal Accident Cover for Individuals” scheme, which is available from Aon Insurance, who handle the Compulsory Group Personal Accident Scheme for Clubs on behalf of the IRFU. If any player requires guidance in this matter they should contact their own insurance advisor or feel free to approach the Director of Rugby, who in turn can put you in touch with the club’s insurance broker for assistance.
