Club Subscriptions 2020-2021

28 July 2020Dear Member.

Firstly and most importantly I hope you and your families are all well in these very strange and challenging times.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the Club through your continued subscription payment. Such payments are vital to running the Club.

Like many business, the Clubs cash flow has been severely affected by COVID. The Clubhouse has been closed all summer which is usually our busiest time for events. We are still not certain of when it can re-open but what we do know is that our ability to generate revenue has been, and will continue to be, significantly compromised.

The income generated by annual subscriptions has steadily increased over the last number of years and is a major contributor to Club income. In the absence of other income streams we are particularly dependant on subscriptions this year. As the new season kicks-off so to do our costs – player insurance, floodlights, providing gear ………….

We are therefore making a special appeal to all Members, playing, student, pavilion/ordinary and overseas/country to pay their subs as promptly as possible. Getting subscriptions earlier than usual will make a huge difference to the cash-flow of the Club.

We will be opening the Clubhouse as soon as it is safe to do so and are really looking forward to having Members back supporting our teams. For those of you who didn’t get to use your Bar Vouchers from last season, hold onto them. As soon as the Clubhouse re-opens you will still be able to use them up until the end of the year.

Subscription falls due on the first of September and we would ask as many of you as possible to pay by then please. Currently subs can be paid via Clubforce, cash or cheque. In an effort to streamline payments we introduced a direct debit option that will allow payment be made in either one lump sum or over a three month period each season (September – November).

If you wish to pay automatically by direct debit each season going forward then please print off the attached mandate, fill in the details and return it to the Club no later than September 12th in order to get them set up correctly.

Members can continue to pay by any of the means outlined above if they do not wish to use the direct debit option. Subscriptions can be paid online, just click here  to make the payment and see details of subscription amounts. Staged payments are facilitated in the online arrangements but the final stage payment must be paid no later 15th November 2020 which means you must commence payments as soon as possible but no later than the end of September. For all those who still deal in cash and cheque you can still drop the payment off to Merrion Road marked for the attention of the Hon. Subscription Treasurer.

We need all active members to pay their subscriptions promptly and ask you to encourage any former members, whom you know, to re-engage with Wanderers by paying a subscription.

To all our life members we again ask for your financial support by way of making a “subscription” donation. Life members have always been hugely supportive of the Club and we hope you will continue your generosity by donating again this year. It is hard to believe that the last life membership drive was done almost 40 years ago!

Once again we need all player subscriptions paid as soon as possible. Details of the IRFU Compulsory Personal Accident Insurance Scheme for Rugby Clubs can be obtained by clicking here. You will also find details of additional cover available for individuals under a special IRFU Scheme and also details of the Wanderers FC policy on playing members personal health Insurance cover.

The Executive Committee of Wanderers FC draw the attention of all playing members to these documents and the requirement for all players to have their own health insurance policy.

For your information the cost of the IRFU Insurance Scheme to the Club is approx.  €120 per player. Add to this the cost of maintaining the pitches, the floodlights, providing gear, the laundry of gear, cost of travel, physio services, gym, etc. etc. and you quickly realise there is a huge cost in putting each team out on the pitch every week, throughout the season.

Application for International tickets will only be accepted from current paid up Club members.

If you have any query do not hesitate to contact me on the number listed below.

Yours sincerely,

John Hunt
